Who are you?
I’ve been writing about Nebraska athletics professionally for over 16 years now. During that time, I’ve made several stops including Athlon Sports and SBNation.com’s Nebraska brand, Corn Nation. I’ve also been heard on 1620 The Zone and Lincoln’s 93.7 The Ticket as both a guest and co-host for a week at the latter.
There’s a lot of Nebraska sports coverage. What makes yours different?
It’s no lie that Huskers athletics - especially football - has a number of people dedicated to making sure fans know what’s going on.
The Devaney Doctrine’s lens is an honest one. That doesn’t mean hurling insults or holding coaches and players to unobtainable standards. In the spirit of Bob Devaney, I look to take a genuine approach to what’s happening.
It’s not about being overly optimistic. If you want that, I highly recommend following Optimistic Sker on Twitter. It’s not about being pessimistic, because that gets old fast and nobody wants to read/write that all the time. Realistic is a fair compromise.
Think about someone you consider a friend. A true friend. Someone who you respect enough to give it to you straight. That’s what I’m here for. Are we going to have fun? Absolutely. Are things going to be blunt at times and will narratives be challenged? Yup.
There is a time for hype videos and another for uncomfortable truths. There’s a balance to be found.
